Reclaiming Postpartum

I'm Julie Ann, hello!

Although I cannot remember a time when I was not fascinated with birth, I do recall that my interest in childbearing piqued when I had my daughter in 2012.  Motherhood and the thrill of educating others on my experiences and helping others to be more aware of their choices, led me to embarking on a career in Midwifery.

I studied Midwifery for almost 3 years before leaving to become a Doula; favouring the unlimited time and attention paid to pregnant women and birthing people.  Less note-taking, more connecting.

I may not be the Doula for you, but I can certainly help you find one if you have a specific requirement that I cannot fulfil.

Although, I can assure you that you have stumbled across a human being here who is well aware that all birthing people are not women, and that all pregnancies do not result in the gestational person going home with a baby at the end of it all – whether that is adoption, surrogacy or otherwise!

My Birth services hope to find you early in your pregnancy so that we have the maximum possible time getting to know each other and making sure that you have the most enjoyable pregnancy possible, whilst also helping you to plan your ideal birth and ensuring you have all of the information that you could possibly need.

All births are covered by my Birth services – however you bring your baby into the world; I am here to help you.

What the heck is a Doula?

Access my diary and book yourself in for a free 30 minute call to talk more about the questions you have around hiring a Doula.

How will you benefit from having me, or any of my peers, accompany you on this journey?

Do you have a specific experience from past births that has meant you want to safeguard your rights and choices with an additional advocate, such as a Doula?

Are you thinking about the postpartum period and know you will need extra support with feeding initiation and care in general?

We cover a lot in 30 minutes... but I won't lie: we normally run over by a LOT!  And then our free call is rounded-up with at thorough follow-up email from me to you containing my quote for services and the next steps to hiring me.

If you would rather not book a call, use this area to send me a message instead!

A place for maternity service users to chat with a full, helpful library of resources in the 'guides' area of the group. Lots of knowledge and local experience in this group (Julie Ann co-Admins the group). If you're looking for a photographer or a doula, a private midwife or a baby massage class... we should have it listed in here for you. But when it also comes to questions and discussions about current care (good and not so good) then we are also here to help.

A group which I recommend to all of my clients and fellow birthworkers, in order to gain a real understanding of what planning a home birth is like. This group is helpful also for people planning a home-environment in a hospital or birth centre setting, and surrounds its members with an abundance of positive birth stories.
